Ventura County Fire reports small uptick in calls, two aircraft responses and Station 29 groundbreaking

Chief Joe Williams delivered the Ventura County Fire Department's quarterly report, noting a modest uptick in call volume and ongoing emphasis on medical responses.
"A slight increase in call volume...it's approximately 3% more," Chief Williams said while walking council through slides showing medical calls as the majority of responses (76.4%). He highlighted rescue ambulance coverage (Rescue Ambulance 26) and said ambulance runs and transports work in partnership with American Medical Response for hospital transport. Williams also recounted two recent aircraft incidents: one outside city limits and another requiring helicopter transport to VCMC and transfer to a burn center; good Samaritan rescuers will be recognized later.
Chief Williams also updated the council on the May 28 groundbreaking for Fire Station 29, shared photos of retired and current firefighters at the event, and answered council questions about fall-injury statistics, bicycle and e-bike crash coding, and potential highway-126 collision trends. He offered to provide more detailed traffic-collision data if council requested it.
