The Lockney City Council voted unanimously Nov. 19 to adopt a resolution suspending the Dec. 21, 2024 effective date of Atmos Energy Corp., West Texas Division’s requested rate change to allow the city time to study the request. The resolution authorizes cooperation with other cities served by Atmos West Texas and authorizes hiring Lloyd Gosselink attorneys and consulting services to represent the city in negotiations or litigation.
City Attorney Lanny Voss reviewed a model staff report and recommended adoption, which the council approved by motion (mover: Dart Carthel; second: Edward Marks). The resolution also directs seeking reimbursement of cities’ rate-case expenses and requires notice of the resolution to the company and legal counsel.
