Planning Commission splits on two rezoning requests; council to consider May 6

City Manager Quinn Bennion told the Council that the Planning Commission meeting drew significant public participation and lasted roughly four and a half hours, during which commissioners considered two major rezoning requests. The Commission recommended approval of a request to rezone property on 500 West from R-3 to R-4 by a 4-1 vote, and it did not recommend rezoning property on 500 North from RA-1 to R-3 after a 2-3 vote. Both items are scheduled for City Council consideration at the May 6 meeting.
Mayor Corey Foley said he has already received public inquiries about the rezoning items and reminded council members to avoid ex parte communications. Assistant City Manager and Planning Director Braeden Christofferson said the Council will receive the Planning Commission packet, including public comments and minutes, before the May 6 meeting.
