Lohn ISD superintendent reports out-of-district threat; district provided added security

Superintendent Kay Shackelford informed the board that on Sept. 8 she was notified that at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 7 a student placed a call to a National Crisis Hotline and made a threat directed toward Rochelle ISD. According to the minutes, Shackelford contacted Brady ISD, Rochelle ISD and law enforcement in response.
The record states Lohn ISD held classes as scheduled on Sept. 9 and that the McCulloch County Sheriff’s Department was on campus to provide additional security; attendance was reported as lower that day. Shackelford told the board she would determine later whether to submit an attendance waiver (the minutes note districts may submit up to three waivers per year).
