Claymont board approves consent items, adopts ban on unauthorized ransomware payments

The Claymont City School District Board of Education approved the April financial report, payment of bills, minutes, mid‑year appropriations amendments and several routine consent items at its May 11 meeting. The board accepted a $5,000 donation from the Tusky VFW and a $100 donation from the Dennison Rotary for a high‑school digital sign and approved a renewal with MinuteMen HR for workers' compensation services for the 2027 Group Retrospective Rating Program in the amount of $2,300.
In a separate recorded action, the board adopted a resolution prohibiting unauthorized ransomware payments, stating that no district employee, officer or agent shall authorize, negotiate or make any ransomware payment unless expressly approved by formal board resolution as provided in Ohio Revised Code 9.64. The motion to approve the treasurer's recommendations and the resolution passed on a roll call vote.
