During the public-comment segment of the Aug. 15 meeting, resident Chris Martin (and another participant identified as Doc Holiday) asked for clarification about the sewer plant’s capacity, saying he had heard the plant had already reached capacity at an Aug. 3 workshop. Mayor Jennifer Williams responded that the plant had not reached capacity and that earlier projections when the plant was installed anticipated the city would not reach 1,000 people until 2050.
Jeremy Crocker of Aqua Services provided a staff update, stating that "the plant is operating at 47% capacity." Council and staff confirmed the city is working on a water and wastewater master plan to accommodate future growth.
No immediate operational changes were ordered; staff noted the master plan will guide capacity and infrastructure decisions going forward.
