Board President Josh Zurliene called the Jasper CCSD 17 regular meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Shawn Otey recorded the minutes. The board approved the consent agenda—including previous meeting minutes, destruction of closed-session minutes, the treasurer’s report, monthly bills and payroll—on a motion credited to Josh Zurliene and Caitlin Glisson; the vote was recorded as yes from all members listed as present.
At 6:10 p.m. the board moved into executive session under school board policy 2:220-E2 to discuss personnel matters (appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal), collective negotiating matters and salary schedules, and student disciplinary cases, citing 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1), 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(2) and 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(9). The motion to enter executive session was made by Shawn Otey and seconded by Justin Atwood and carried with recorded affirmative votes.
The board returned from executive session at 7:08 p.m. on a motion by Justin Atwood, seconded by Caitlin Glisson. The board then approved the executive session minutes as recorded on a motion by Caitlin Glisson, seconded by Jarad Blanton; that motion also passed with all recorded members voting yes.
Next steps: the board proceeded to several personnel and fiscal items on the public agenda after returning from closed session.
