Lometa Senior Center seeks assurances as city shifts bill payments

Gail Eltgroth, speaking on behalf of the Lometa Senior Center, thanked the city for years in which the city paid the center's bills and asked whether the city would resume that practice. "She was wanting some reassurance to see if the city would be able to start paying the bills again for them in the near future," the minutes record.
Eltgroth also raised a maintenance issue, noting a broken window on the back door of the Senior Center and asking the council to consider repairs. The exchange occurred during the citizen-comment portion of the Jan. 6 meeting, when the council hears items that are not on the agenda and may refer them for future action. The council did not vote or adopt a directive at the meeting on the center's funding or the repair request.
The Lometa Senior Center was identified in the minutes as the organization Eltgroth represented; no dollar amounts or a staff commitment to resume payment were recorded in the minutes. Any formal city action on payments or repairs would need to be placed on a future agenda for consideration and possible vote.
