Claymont board authorizes administrative powers, sets mileage and minimum wage

At the Jan. 12 organizational meeting the board authorized routine administrative powers for the Treasurer and Superintendent, hired Pepple & Waggoner as legal counsel, authorized E-Rate signatory, set mileage reimbursement at $.725 per mile and set the minimum wage at $11.00 per hour.
The Claymont City Board of Education approved a range of administrative authorizations as part of Items A–O. The board authorized the Treasurer to pay bills within permanent appropriations, act as signatory for payroll and warrant checks, request advances from the county auditor and to invest interim funds in accordance with R.C. 42.22. The Superintendent was designated as Purchasing Agent and authorized to employ teaching and non-teaching personnel as needed, subject to later board ratification.
The minutes record that the board employed the legal firm Pepple & Waggoner as district legal counsel and authorized the Treasurer to sign telecommunications agreements to comply with E-Rate rules. The board set mileage reimbursement to the IRS rate of $.725 (72.5 cents) and set the district minimum wage at the federal rate of $11.00 per hour. All items A–O were approved by roll-call vote.
