The Todd County Board of Commissioners on April 1 unanimously proclaimed April 6–12, 2025, as Crime Victim Rights Week and declared April 2025 Sexual Assault Awareness Month after a presentation from Hands of Hope Resource Center.
Hands of Hope described barriers victims face and the services the agency provides. A Hands of Hope representative outlined the proclamation language and the agency’s mission; the board then moved and approved the proclamations. "Now therefore be it resolved, the county board of commissioners do hereby proclaim the week April 6 through 04/12/2025 as [Crime Victims Rights Week]," the reading of the proclamation stated.
The presenters also described community fundraising: the agency’s fourth annual Denim Day raffle will be April 30, with proceeds supporting victim services that grants do not always cover. The board thanked Hands of Hope for its work and encouraged support for the fundraiser. Chair Byers and multiple commissioners offered brief praise for the organization’s impact on victims and survivors.
The proclamations were approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Staff noted the proclamations will be posted and that Hands of Hope will continue engagement with county departments on victim service needs.
