Lometa council approves package of ordinances, contracts and personnel actions

At its March 3 meeting the Lometa City Council unanimously approved multiple ordinances and contracts, accepted a resignation, ratified February bills and minutes, and authorized a $2.55 hourly raise for the city secretary following executive session.
The Lometa City Council on March 3 unanimously approved a group of ordinances and administrative actions, ratified bills paid in February and accepted minutes from two February meetings.
Councilmember Alex Witherspoon moved to approve Ordinance #072098-A (Noise Ordinance), Ordinance #02082025 (Unsafe Buildings & Structures Ordinance), Ordinance #03012021-SW-2 (renewal of the municipal judge ordinance) and Ordinance #02122025 (resolution for Lampasas dispatch record). Witherspoon made the motions for these agenda items and they were seconded by Councilmembers Jaelyn Downey or Gloria Martin; all passed unanimously.
The council also approved a contract with Morris Law, PC to serve as city attorney and municipal court prosecutor; accepted the Lometa Police Department's 2024 Racial Profile Report; ratified bills paid during February 2025; and approved minutes for the Feb. 3, 2025 regular meeting and the Feb. 8, 2025 ordinance workshop.
The body unanimously accepted the resignation of Councilmember Larry Koch. Later in the meeting, after an executive session on personnel, the council approved a $2.55 hourly pay increase for City Secretary Stephanie Sweet.
Mayor Derek Talley briefly criticized prior purchases in the chambers as "useless" spending during reports. The meeting was adjourned at 7:57 P.M.
