Charlestown to receive large BMP tree delivery after expanded resident orders

The Charlestown Tree Board said a local nursery will deliver a large number of BMP/cost-sharing trees directly to the City Maintenance Yard, reducing the board's previous transport burden. Chair Aaron said the program grew from 58 trees last cycle to roughly 165 trees this cycle; the nursery agreed to deliver to Charlestown on March 25 at 8 a.m., and the board will coordinate pick-up and optional $25 delivery for residents.
Aaron said the Arbor Day Foundation offers mapping software that could let residents place trees on a parcel map, giving the city exportable GIS points for grant reporting and planning. "Once someone registers, they would go to that site and see what trees are available...and from what I understand based on our size, might be like 1000 bucks a year for that software," he said.
