Tree-board chair to ask city council to reinstate line-item funding after council vote

The Charlestown Tree Board voted to approve a draft 2025–26 budget of about $12,922 and will ask city council to reinstate the board's budget after a recent council motion removed the line-item allocation. Chair Aaron said he will present the master plan and the proposed budget to council at its March 17 meeting and urged board members and residents to attend.
Aaron described the council action as a surprise and said he planned to press for reinstatement: "I'm going to fight to reinstate that budget," he said. He told the board the council member who proposed removing the line item cited a lack of a written spending plan; the chair said the board has now attached a budget showing trees, equipment and contractor costs and will emphasize recent accomplishments during the council presentation. Katie moved to approve the draft budget and the board approved it by voice vote.
