The Schiller Park Zoning, Planning and Appeals Commission unanimously adopted a zoning map amendment on April 8 to add a C-3/O Flex Commercial Overlay District to identified parcels in the I‑1 Industrial District.
Zoning Administrator Max Morgan told the commission the overlay is intended to allow additional commercial uses while preserving all current underlying zoning permissions; he said the change would cover roughly 22 owners out of 31 properties. During public comment, Wojciech Rajch, owner of Euro Marble and sworn in to address the board, welcomed the proposal and said he plans to expand his business and remain in Schiller Park: "I am excited to continue to grow my company," he said. The motion to adopt the map amendment, made by Commissioner Brian Curry and seconded by Commissioner Phil Dindia, carried 7–0.
Commission discussion framed the amendment as an update to code to support recruitment and economic development in industrial corridors by permitting additional commercial flexibility without removing existing uses. The commission and counsel concluded the amendment is in the public interest and does not negatively impact the village or its residents. The amendment will be incorporated into the Official Zoning Map (Section 155.2302) of the New Millennium Village Code of Schiller Park.
