Athens Services honors two local recycling ‘all stars,’ explains SB 1383 rules

Sydney Stoll, community affairs manager for Athens Services, presented the company’s recycling outreach and the 2024 'recycling all star' awards to Ismael Middle School and People’s Self Help Housing, noting the importance of clear signage and staff training to increase diversion.
"SB 1383 is a state law that aims to reduce organics in our landfills and recover edible food that would otherwise be disposed of," Stoll said, and explained that Santa Paula customers may use green bins for landscaping waste, food waste and food-soiled paper. She urged businesses and residents to use Athens’ online resources and displayed sample posters and a 'what goes where' guide to reduce contamination.
