Police Chief D. VanNamee explained Ordinance 1086, which standardizes scheduling and fees for off-duty police details such as work for electric and gas companies. "This is for scheduling for outside work for officers, such as electric company or the gas company. They will schedule with a phone call," Chief VanNamee said.
The committee voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance. Committee members said the change formalizes a scheduling approach that had been handled administratively in the past and clarifies compensation for officers providing outside details.
