Mayor Bomba introduced the township's proposed 2026 municipal budget at the March 18 meeting after several weeks of review, citing rising health-insurance and public-safety costs. "Preparing the budget is one of the most important responsibilities we have as a governing body. Our goal is always the same, to provide the services to the residents while being responsible stewards of taxpayers' dollars," he said.
The budget as introduced would raise the municipal tax rate by three cents. The mayor said that translates to roughly $72.50 a year for an average home assessed at $241,000, or just over $6.00 per month. The Committee voted to introduce the budget (Mr. Brown moved; Mrs. Martin seconded), clearing the way for a public hearing on April 15; amendments may be made before that hearing, the CFO Christie Ehret said.
