Counselor outlines dual-credit expansion, cosmetology licensing and testing calendar

Miss Cannon, introduced by the campus presenter as the new school counselor, told trustees Buffalo High School partners with Navarro College (Corsicana) to offer dual-credit courses. "We have 40 total students who are taking dual credit," Miss Cannon said, and she listed 17 seniors and 23 juniors in the program. She also described cosmetology enrollment (six seniors and six juniors, 12 total) and the state licensing exams cosmetology students will take after graduation.
Miss Cannon reviewed SAT/PSAT plans: fall PSAT participation and a March'April testing window in the spring to avoid overlap with EOC testing. She said nine students who took the PSAT this fall qualified on the PSAT/NMSQT list for National Merit consideration and that district staff will follow the application and semifinalist processes next year.
