Students show PLTW projects including assistive device, color‑detection aid and dragster

Students in the PLTW (Project Lead The Way) program presented end‑of‑semester projects to trustees and described the learning goals behind them.
One student described a motion/object detection project while others demonstrated a 'look and see' assistive device intended to help people in wheelchairs reach and view items on high shelves. A student presenter said their color‑recognition project was designed to help medical staff who are color blind identify medication bottles as part of a double‑check program.
"This project was made as a motion detection or object detection project," one student presenter said. A presenter described constraints on other projects (for example a dragster limited to two motors and a five‑meter run) and explained troubleshooting steps the teams used during the design process.
Miss Rayborn (speaker 9) and classroom teachers noted PLTW is supported by a grant and core curriculum changes next year will slightly adjust the program. Trustees praised the students’ work and thanked teachers for organizing the presentations.
