Auditors give Buffalo ISD a clean opinion, report no findings on grant compliance

Kent Willis, the district's auditor, told the Buffalo ISD board the firm had issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on the 2024-25 audited financial statements after reviewing the numbers and controls. "So congrats on the clean opinion," Willis said, and later summarized the grant work by noting, "We have no findings, no deficiencies to report." The presentation explained the audit steps, verification procedures and the separate federal single-audit requirement when federal awards exceed $750,000.
Willis said auditors selected the child nutrition program for federal compliance testing this year and found the district compliant. He put the district's finances in context for Texas school systems, noting a net loss of about $329,000 but also a healthy fund balance the district has preserved. After the presentation the board moved and seconded consideration of the audit report and approved the item on the consent motion.
