Trustees discussed replacement of a failed oven and steamer at the high school and the long‑out‑of‑service dishwasher at the lower junior high. A staff member said the purchases were made under the district’s $25,000 limit and the expenses would be covered from the Child Nutrition Fund balance; the board agreed to a budget amendment to move the expense into that fund and to present quotes for the dishwasher at the December meeting.
The finance/operations presenter explained the Child Nutrition Fund has held an excessive fund balance for several years and that state rules limit carrying three months of expenditures in that fund; using the balance for necessary equipment would reduce the balance toward that guideline. The board moved and seconded a motion to accept the purchases and the budget amendment, and the chair called for approval without recorded objections.
