Senior Citizens Commission approves minutes, hears report on high demand for tax help and health outreach

The Bolton Senior Citizens Commission met March 31, 2026, at the Bolton Senior Center and approved the minutes of its Dec. 9, 2025 meeting after a motion from Commissioner Leslie Shea and a second from Corenda Haugh. Chair Paula Friez called the meeting to order at 12:11 p.m.; the commission set its next meeting for June 9, 2026.
Director of Senior and Social Services Carrie Concatelli told commissioners that AARP tax-preparation assistance at the Senior Center has seen heavy demand; "the free AARP free tax preparation is in very high demand," she said, and some seniors were turned away for lack of appointments. Concatelli also said a February speaker emphasized stroke awareness and that the health district will host pop-up clinics at the center offering blood-pressure checks and answers to health questions.
Paula Friez described recent programs as successful with good attendance, and she said planning for the town's 250th anniversary is ongoing, with more details to come. Commissioners also heard a preview of spring and summer luncheons and programs. Leslie Shea moved to adjourn at 12:45 p.m.; Corenda Haugh seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
