Hampton University Lady Pirates honored for third straight MEAC title

Hampton City Council members recognized the Hampton University women's basketball team for winning their third straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) title, a 54-53 victory over Howard University on March 10. Councilman Moffatt highlighted the team's 26-4 record, third straight NCAA tournament appearance and defensive rankings and singled out senior guard Jerica Jenkins for career milestones.
Coach David Sixx accepted the council's thanks on behalf of the team, naming coaches and players and noting the seniors' consistent championship appearances. "You made 3rd straight NCAA tournament appearance," Councilman Moffatt said during remarks summarizing the season. The council took photos with the team and presented formal recognition in the Spotlight segment.
