Peninsula team exceeded 100 Day Challenge goal, city says

Hampton officials said the Peninsula 100 Day Challenge to end veteran homelessness housed more than 104 veterans; the effort was supported by HUD, VA and local partners, officials said.
City emcee Brian Mukasey told the council that Hampton joined a nationwide 100 Day Challenge and that the Peninsula team "surpassed their goal for the challenge by housing more than 104 veterans." Mukasey noted the campaign was first announced by the first lady and sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, with local coordination across Hampton and Hampton Roads.
Mukasey credited coordinated outreach, barrier removal and partnerships among local, state and federal offices for the placements. He said the celebration in Richmond recognized Peninsula efforts and that the award will be displayed at the Hampton VA Medical Center.
