Superintendent Lou presented a contract renewal with a K-9 contraband-interdiction vendor for the 2026-27 year and recommended continuing the provider the district has used in recent years.
"I would definitely recommend to use them again," Lou said of the K-9 service, noting the vendor has been professional during his six years with the district. Staff described the contract as 12 half-days at $290 per half-day (the vendor does sweeps of campuses, parking lots, classrooms and other targeted areas).
Trustees moved, seconded and approved the contract. Administration noted occasional scheduling conflicts (for example, when sweeps coincided with testing), but said the vendor has been flexible and effective overall.
What's next: the vendor will provide scheduled K-9 coverage per the contract and staff will coordinate dates to minimize conflicts with testing and other school operations.
