District says construction making progress despite heavy rains; key pours and rebar deliveries scheduled in July

Harris Longstreet described utility work and recent setbacks caused by storms: "we just spent all day pumping water out of those to try and get it dried out so we can get dirt back in there on the building side," he said, and added that the west end building pad is under settlement monitoring per the geotechnical engineer through the 30th. He told trustees that rebar for the lower junior high will arrive Wednesday and that scheduled pours include a first pour on the 1st and additional work on the north parking lot on July 6.
Trustees asked about erosion and site stabilization; staff pointed to concrete stabilization and hydroseeding as remedies and said they will rework geofabric sections where grass roots have not established. Board members also flagged a damaged entryway with large rocks that had recently caused a tire failure for a trustee.
What's next: staff will continue monitoring settlement, schedule concrete pours when the site is dry enough for equipment, and return with updates as work proceeds.
