City parks staff presented proposed amendments to Article 18.02 of the City of Buda code of ordinances that set hours of operation by facility lighting and season, align dog-park access for accompanied minors, and limit camping to approved, organized groups with director and police-chief sign-off. "Between February and October, hours of operation would be 6AM to 9PM for facilities without lighting. And for facilities with lighting, it would be 6AM to 10PM," staff said when reviewing the draft language.
Commissioners asked about enforcement, trail exceptions and whether the 5PM winter closure for non-lit facilities was too early in some locations. Staff noted the ordinance would not apply to trails and said future facilities (for example at Garrison Park) were being considered in the hours-setting framework. The commission moved, seconded and carried a recommendation to forward the ordinance revisions to City Council for consideration.
