Coach outlines cheer handbook rewrite: no captains, new JV squad and conditioning in place of demerits

"So we are taking away the cheer captains, and moving more towards a team leader, like a cheerleader of the week," Coach Taylor (speaker 9) said, adding that the handbook will be reworked to mirror the athletic handbook. He also said varsity will be required to compete in January competitions while JV will not, and that the district expects a natural break to define varsity and JV rosters. "Right now, we've got about 30 that signed up... no more than 22 on varsity," he said.
Trustees asked whether seniors would be required to be on varsity; Coach Taylor said students could choose JV or varsity where eligible. The board received the presentation and had no objection to the proposed changes; staff will proceed with handbook updates consistent with the board discussion.
