Sesser-Valier holds Truth in Taxation hearing on proposed 9.1% levy increase

Superintendent J. Henry called a public Truth in Taxation hearing for Sesser-Valier Community Unit School District No. 196 to order at 5:50 p.m. Monday at the district high school library to solicit public input on a proposed property tax levy increase. "The purpose of this meeting was to hear any public input on the property tax levy increase," J. Henry said.
Henry told the board that a tentative levy adopted in October 2025 would increase operating funds by 10.00% and that the overall levy, including debt service, would rise by 9.10%. The board was presented with the November 2025 Treasurer's Report, which includes cash balances, and reviewed the Fiscal Year 2026 three-year annual average operational funds expenditure report during the meeting. After asking for questions or comments, Henry reported none were forthcoming and closed the hearing at 5:53 p.m.
