Superintendent Henry outlines projects as Sesser-Valier holds fire-prevention tax hearing

Superintendent J. Henry called a public hearing at 5:55 PM on Dec. 8, 2025, at the Sesser-Valier High School Library to review planned uses of Fire Prevention and Safety tax funds required by Section 17-2.11 of the Illinois School Code. He presented four projects proposed to be funded in part by the levy and explained why the hearing is required.
Henry listed the proposed uses: a gym remodeling project (floor refinishing, replacement of bleachers and associated painting, gym equipment, door replacement), an entry door and window project, a building drainage project and a sewer drain lining project. "There are not sufficient funds available in the fire prevention and safety fund to finance the repairs needed, thereby necessitating the levy amount," Henry said. He asked for public questions or comments; none were forthcoming. The hearing closed at 5:57 PM and the minutes were certified as a true and accurate account.
