Bianca Redmond reviewed the options and calculations for the tax‑rate notices, explaining the proposed 3.5% voter‑approval rate corresponds to a rate of 0.3395. "The proposed tax rate today is 0.3395," she said during the presentation, explaining how that compares to no‑new‑revenue and other statutory comparison rates. Chair (speaker 1) made a motion to set the maximum ad valorem tax rate at 0.3395; council conducted a roll‑call vote and the motion passed with all members present voting "Aye."
Redmond said notices will be published with the proposed maximum rate and that the required public hearings on the budget and tax rate are scheduled for Sept. 3 and Sept. 17, with council able to adopt a final rate at the Sept. 17 meeting. Council members did not propose a higher maximum at this meeting.
