Council cautioned about tight ARPA obligation timeline as $1.3M remains unobligated

"We've obligated about 2,800,000. So we still have 1,300,000 that's unobligated," Redmond said, and noted that unobligated funds must be obligated by Dec. 31, 2024 and spent by the end of 2026. Several council members expressed concern about that compressed window and asked staff for a memo outlining what remains, where those allocations stand, and how staff plans to obligate funds before the deadline.
Staff said they are coordinating with public works and the city manager to prioritize projects that can be quickly procured and contracted. Councilmembers suggested the city pursue quick, one‑time purchases for ARPA funds and indicated a willingness to consider special sessions if needed to meet deadlines.
