Burton council approves generator purchase for wastewater plant and hires land-clearing contractor

Council voted to purchase an on-site generator for the wastewater treatment plant using $11,011.44 from the city's remaining Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds and $13,178.55 of city funds. The generator purchase was approved unanimously.
Separately, the council approved hiring Full Throttle Land Clearing (with JMendoza for larger trees) to clear brush and trees in the utility easement west of Indian Creek so crews can access manhole covers. Contractor Dustin Lozano had reported multiple stoppages along the sewer line and said overgrowth along the easement has made locating and clearing these stoppages difficult.
Both actions were recorded as passed in the Sept. 10 minutes; the generator purchase uses a mix of federal-recovery and local funds and the easement-clearing contract is intended to support routine sewer maintenance and restoration of access.
