The Burton City Council adopted the city’s 2025–26 general and water/sewer budgets and passed Ordinance 20250311 at its March 11 meeting, covering the fiscal period April 1, 2025, through March 31, 2026. The motion to adopt was made by Councilmember Tommie Gilmon and seconded by Councilmember Jeff Eckhardt; the minutes record the motion passed.
Mayor Karen Buck opened the public hearing on the budgets earlier in the meeting; no public comments were recorded. The minutes list supporting votes in the record as Kalkhake and McLaughlin and note no votes against the adoption. The ordinance text included in the packet states the council "anticipates revenue and expenditures for the fiscal year of 2025-2026 as projected and set forth in the attached Exhibit A, City of Burton Budget, and Exhibit B, City of Burton Water & Sewer Budget."
Council did not amend the ordinance at the meeting. The budget ordinance language in the adopted document specifies the fiscal year beginning April 1, 2025, and ending March 31, 2026. The council packet included financial reports and the mayor’s and city secretary’s reports that accompanied the motion to adopt.
