Mayor Karen Buck reported during her monthly update that she received a call informing the City of Burton it was a recipient of $500,000 from Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller's office. She said staff discussed how those funds could interact with other potential state funding and that Langford's grant administrator told the mayor the monies "would co-mingle and not impact" other state funding from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB).
The mayor said city staff will continue discussions with Langford and with TWDB engineers as the city prepares a Project Information Form that opens in December. The funds were noted in the mayor's written report attached to the minutes, and council did not take separate action on the announcement at the Sept. 10 meeting.
