Branden Anderson told the council the Utah Department of Transportation selected the canal bridge at 100 E 8000 S for replacement under a federally funded Bridge Formula Program. The project is fully funded by UDOT; the city will support design coordination and public outreach. Anderson said the agreement amount associated with the city’s pavement work or administrative portion is $33,352 (structured as a lump sum) and will be paid from the pavement management budget.
The project’s anticipated completion depends on seasonal canal flow constraints and the contractor sequence; staff estimated completion in winter 2025–26 or 2026–27. The council voted to authorize the mayor to enter the agreement; staff said the work gives the city an opportunity to pave adjacent roadway sections near the TRAX line while permits are in place.
