Council reviews stormwater master plan identifying aging infrastructure and funding gaps

Jerimie Thorne summarized a Stormwater Master Plan prepared by Hansen, Allen & Luce that examines the city’s stormwater system and identifies deficiencies such as aging infrastructure and capacity limitations across an area of roughly 3,872 acres. The plan includes hydrologic modeling, proposed capital improvements, maintenance enhancements and conceptual cost estimates to guide implementation. Thorne said challenges include funding constraints and upkeep of aging systems.
Kayson Schurtz reviewed the plan’s findings and answered councillor questions about how the city should plan for large storms, noting the importance of maintenance and having crews ready during storm events. Thorne asked that the plan be placed on the consent agenda for the next meeting and the council agreed.
