Council streamlines vehicle-related definitions in zoning code, approves Ordinance 2025-O-16

Planning Director Wendelin Knobloch told the council the amendment removes the generic definition for "vehicle-related use" and consolidates specific definitions and standards for vehicle rental, repair, filling stations and vehicle sales into a new supplementary regulations section so rules are easier to find. "To condense the municipal code and more easily find governing standards, it is proposed that the standards are relocated to a new section in Supplementary Regulations," Knobloch said, adding that no substantive standards are proposed to change.
After a public hearing with no public comments, Council Member Bryant Brown moved to adopt the ordinance and the council approved Ordinance No. 2025-O-16 by roll call vote with one council member absent. Staff said the changes are intended to streamline code interpretation and allow these uses in targeted commercial zones while maintaining review through business licensing procedures.
