The board authorized district use of Lincoln Learning, EdOptions Academy and Plato Courseware for the 2024–25 year following guidelines from the Michigan Department of Education. Nick (speaker 10) described the platforms as COVID-era resources that the district maintains as options and said the district narrows the list of offered courses to those it trusts.
"The platform, there's about 300 courses in there," Nick said, explaining why the district limits which courses are available to students. The board approved the curricular platforms after discussion and then moved through a set of handbook approvals: elementary, middle and high-school handbooks were each approved as recommended administratively.
Board members asked whether additional oversight is needed; staff said they do not anticipate heavy usage but prefer to keep the platforms approved so families can opt in if needed.
