Chair Kauffman briefed the commission on BuTiCare, a grassroots community organization working to organize resources for residents' rent and emergency food needs in the Buda area. He said the group has set up a board and is "in the process of incorporating and forming themselves into a 501(c)(3) under the auspices of an existing organization at the Lutheran Church." The commission has assisted with bylaws and startup work and will step back from daily involvement while monitoring progress.
Commissioners were told BuTiCare is still recruiting volunteers and that the commission members who helped incubate the effort will attend quarterly updates. The group indicated that the city might consider offering a liaison or board representative at a later date once BuTiCare develops further operational capacity.
