Staff (speaker 3) presented a proposed policy to implement the Michigan Earned Sick Time Act and noted that many district employees already receive sick‑time protections through collective bargaining agreements. Staff said the policy is drafted to be flexible if state law language changes before February 21 and that, for employees under collective bargaining agreements, the district would follow the contract terms until they expire.
After brief discussion the board approved the policy by voice vote. Board members thanked staff for their work on the policy and noted that most employees already meet or exceed the law’s accrual ratios.
