Board returns Title IX policy to earlier structure, approves update

Staff (speaker 3) presented a Title IX policy update that staff described as largely a return to the district’s 2020 policy organization after a federal judge struck subsequent language. The attorney who led the revision, Jennifer Starlin, was cited by staff as central to the revisions. Staff said the updated policy reorganizes material to be more K–12 friendly and reduces the number of separately trained roles needed for investigations.
After discussion and an opportunity for questions, the board voted by voice to approve the January 29 Title IX policy update as recommended administratively (motion moved by Jill; supported by Sarah). Board members said the reorganization and legal review give them confidence in the revised policy.
