Superintendent outlines three priorities: academics, strategic plan, student voice

The superintendent presented three drafted goals for the year at the Jan. 27 meeting, describing them as the result of evaluation feedback and internal prioritization. The superintendent said they had proposed 24 goals but reduced the list to three for board consideration and said each was framed to align with evaluation rubrics.

The three goals are: (1) an academic focus on instructional environments, curricular development, assessment and staff professional development; (2) finishing and advancing the district strategic plan with building-level visionary work; and (3) increasing opportunities for student feedback and student voice. The superintendent asked board members for input and noted that the bond effort had taken priority but said they wanted feedback to include in next year’s evaluations and reporting. "I have 3 goals that I drafted based on the evaluation feedback that we gave in December," the superintendent said when presenting the list.

Board members generally supported creating an ad hoc committee to refine strategic-plan language before presenting a full-board draft and volunteered to participate in that committee. The board agreed to continue bond-related work while scheduling ad hoc meetings for strategic-plan development outside of packed full-board agendas.
