Regional 1 team shortlists architects; interviews scheduled as RFP responses arrive

Patrice Thomas, senior adviser to the All World team, updated the Shelby County Regional 1 task force on the procurement process for the hospital project, saying the team has moved from an RFQ to an RFP and received four proposals from shortlisted firms.
"The actual in person event, we had about a 100 individuals that attended that 1st morning session and about 50 individuals that attended the 2nd part of the session," Thomas said, describing outreach to architects and engineers. She said the RFQ for architectural services was issued around April 1, that five firms were shortlisted and an RFP was sent around June 11. One invited firm later declined, leaving four respondents for interviews in the coming weeks.
Task force members asked about timing and deliverables. Kim Brown, consultant for Shelby County, confirmed a target date of August 1 to have the designers on board and explained the reason for selecting architects ahead of construction managers: "we want, of course, ideally, the architects to be a part of the review process for those other services," Brown said.
Thomas said the team also issued an RFP for structural, mechanical and construction manager services and had held a pre-proposal meeting. She agreed to provide a high-level Gantt chart or timeline of next steps and said the schedule will become more granular once architects are onboarded.
The update underlines that procurement is moving forward but that selection steps and interviews remain before contracts are executed. The task force asked for a timeline and promised monthly emailed updates from consultants until the next quarterly meeting.
