Commission requires family sign-off to rotate memorial; OKays grass markers for cremation burials

At the July 23 meeting the commission discussed two requests related to memorials and markers. Vinny Calcagni of GCB Corp. called about a request from Betsy Kelty to rotate her son’s stone; commissioners said they would require a signed letter from family members before approving any change and asked staff to obtain paperwork from GCB Corp. confirming family consent. "She dropped off her letter to the office on Tuesday with all the signatures," Susan Lyons reported.
Separately, Bill Jangraw asked whether four siblings could place grass markers on a 5x10 family lot where both parents had been cremated. Commissioners agreed that if the burials were cremation-only there would be room for burials and that grass markers could be allowed; they also discussed whether adding names to the central monument might avoid confusion about who is actually buried in the lot.
