Town Manager Ryan Lockwood reported a well-attended kickoff meeting for the sidewalk project intended to connect the two schools to downtown; participants provided feedback on initial design and raised safety concerns about where to place a crosswalk on Route 14. Residents and staff discussed siting the crosswalk within the first three houses on the Construction Hill side and closer to Ainsworth Public Library to reduce risk at the Construction Hill/Meadow Street intersection.
Lockwood said feedback will inform design adjustments and grant-seeking efforts to help fund the project. The minutes note the town is continuing to look into grants and will coordinate additional trucks and notifications for construction timing as the project moves toward procurement and construction phases.
