Mayor Karen Buck told council she initiated a boil-water notice protocol on Nov. 25 after a construction crew working on private property struck and damaged a city water line that supplies homes and businesses west of Indian Creek; she said the follow-up rescind notice was issued Nov. 27. The minutes record that an emergency water test was completed so residents would have clean water for Thanksgiving and that required paperwork was submitted to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
The December utility report documented the cause of the boil-water notice and linked increased water loss to a subsequent leak: "BOIL WATER NOTICE WAS PLACED 11-25-24 DUE TO A CONSTRUCTION CREW WORKING ON PRIVATE PROPERTY HITTING AND DAMAGING OUR CITY WATER LINE. WE DID GET AN EMERGENCY WATER TEST DONE SO PEOPLE WOULD HAVE CLEAN WATER FOR THANKSGIVING. PROPER PAPERWORK WAS SUBMITTED TO TCEQ." The report also identifies the Guelker property on FM 1697 as the site of a leak that substantially increased water loss.
No formal council action was taken on the boil-water incident itself during the meeting beyond the mayor’s report and utility reporting; staff said they followed standard emergency testing and notification protocols.
