Parks staff recommended awarding an RFP to install an 8-foot black chain-link fence around the Sportsplex fields (about 2,900 linear feet) and to buy a 6-foot temporary/rental fence system with a trailer for storage and event use. Staff described specifications (galvanized steel posts, black vinyl chain link, double-swing gates) and said the rental system will be useful for festivals and emergency operations.
"This will give us 100% control of this facility," the parks director said of the Sportsplex fencing, describing access control for rentals and tournaments as a key benefit. Staff noted the rental system will be funded in part by a $100,000 contribution from the Economic Development Corporation and outlined a proposed rental fee structure for event users.
Council awarded the procurement to the recommended vendor and approved the not-to-exceed amount presented in the staff packet. Staff said a best-and-final offer process refined the total; they also flagged a staff authority line for typical contract change orders within legal limits.
