Council members agreed to meet in a workshop at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 27 to review a proposed resident survey and a draft simplified subdivision/land-division ordinance that was provided the day of the Aug. 13 meeting.
Councilmember Jeff Eckhardt had proposed a SurveyMonkey questionnaire to solicit opinions from Burton property taxpayers and surrounding county areas about city priorities and whether an economic development corporation (EDC) is appropriate; some councilmembers said parts of the survey seemed more aligned with Chamber of Commerce interests. Mayor Buck said the subdivision ordinance was received too late for full consideration and asked members to review it ahead of the workshop. Staff also noted the approaching evergreen clause deadline in the city's contract with Texas Commercial Waste (TCW); the utility will include a short customer survey with September utility bills to gather commercial and residential feedback before council decides how to proceed.
