Burton officials report water-line work nearly complete; engineer to return with proposed well locations

City Secretary Angela Harrington and engineer Bradley Loehr updated the Burton City Council on the city's water projects on Aug. 13.
Harrington said the Tx Department of Agriculture water line project (Contract CDV21-0440) is "almost complete" and staff are waiting on bacterial testing before abandoning the old S. Brazos line and completing the final punch list. Bradley Loehr told council he "will attend next month’s meeting to formally discuss the specific possible locations of the well" under General Land Office contract #24-065-042-E534. Harrington also reported the city had received follow-up questions on a CDBG application to rebuild and repair the Knittel and Amkin lift stations and that she plans to hire grant administration help for a proposed 2025–26 drainage project.
Separately, Harrington relayed a phone message from Commissioner Sid Miller at the Texas Department of Agriculture indicating the TDA intends to provide funds to address water loss and line repairs; specific amounts and timing were not yet available.
